REST deeply and
fuel your wellbeing
in the company of like-minded individuals.
This is the essence of REST & THE CITY!
As a relaxation expert with over a decade of experience, I guide sacred REST practices that support the release of tension and stress and nurture mental and physical wellbeing.
In REST & THE CITY,
together we will set the conditions to
turn off the stress response and stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS).
And when the PNS is engaged, our physiology works at its best.
We release our "happy" hormones such as oxytocin and serotonin, as well as lower the blood pressure, decrease the heart rate, and decrease the production of inflammatory proteins.
We know intuitively how powerful it is to take care of ourselves in community, and now modern science has finally caught up: research shows that when this so-called rest & digest branch of the nervous system is turned on in a room full of others, it creates a measurable energy field that results in improvement not only in our own mental and physical wellbeing but also in that of those around us: the effect becomes larger and more powerful.
Leading to physical ease,
mental clarity, insight, and creativity,
emotional resilience and joy.

“The space and quiet that idleness provides is a necessary condition for standing back from life and seeing it whole, for making unexpected connections and waiting for the wild summer lightning strikes of inspiration — it is, paradoxically, necessary to getting any work done."
essayist Tim Kreider in The New York Times |

How this unique offering works:
The first 15 minutes of the gathering are reserved for participants to arrive, settle in, and unwind from their day, to enjoy some quiet time, a beverage and a snack perhaps, and connect with the other participants if they'd like. Participants will then engage in a 1.5 hour restorative yoga practice including guided mindfulness meditation, reflection, and optional journaling. Time is reserved after the practice for participants to connect and mix and mingle over mindfully-paired beverages and snacks. You will leave with renewed energy, and a deep sense of harmony and wholeness. Consider it a 3-hour dose of self-produced medicine for the body, mind, and heart. |
