Niasia & Family
This family of three moved from shelter and into permanent housing in Brooklyn in January. Born and raised in NYC, the husband and wife were living temporarily in South Carolina when they decided to move back to New York. Their plan was to move in with an aunt while they looked for an apartment but the aunt was not supporive to this trans-gender couple and kicked them out of her home shortly after they arrived and spent a year in shelter.
The daughter is thriving in her middle school. The school wanted to make sure she didn’t change schools after she moved to Brooklyn so they arranged for a DOE (Department of Education) bus to take her to and from school. Niaisa has a stable part time job and is looking for something full time. Her husband is in school for a software development degree. Thanks to Mom Squad donations, we have already warmed up their home. |
